Testimonials

“I enrolled with great expectations, and they were surpassed, because Noah is a gifted teacher. Right off the bat he showed he could be trusted to be in charge when circumstances warranted, to respond with kindness and honesty, and to make what felt to me like brilliant summaries/observations about our work and the works we studied. It’s one thing for a teacher of writing to know what they’re talking about in terms of practice/form/technique/literature in general (all of which he does). It’s quite another to speak the truth in ways that resonate and encourage. I never once felt personally criticized, was able to detach from what I wrote and be open to improvement, and I learned so much. He creates an interesting, stimulating, encouraging place to practice the craft of writing, and I hope things line up so I can study with him again.” – Betsey Y., on “Writing the Short Story” (live online), Spring 2023

“I thought the class was very well organized and a lot of thought went into the readings. Noah provided spot-on, accurate feedback that was encouraging but yet told the [writer] how he could improve his work. The written feedback that Noah gave went beyond expectations and it is clear that he is a passionate teacher who cares about his students. Noah managed the class well and made sure expectations were met while encouraging comments and feedback from everyone. I would not hesitate to take another class from Noah.” – Christine O., on “Writing the Short Story” (live online), Spring 2023

“It was great to be able to meet and compare with other writers and get their feedback on what we had written, as well as Noah’s very insightful comments and texts to read. Noah has a way of coaxing the best out of all of us.” – Derek F., on “Writing the Short Story” (live online), Spring 2023

“Mr. Weisz is a passionate and knowledgeable teacher, a writer himself, so that gave us a
unique outlook on the discussed literature and how we were supposed to write our own
stories. He conducts remarkably interesting discussions during the class, and we discussed
and thoroughly analyzed various fantastic extracts. It is a great experience to see a teacher
genuinely invested in what he teaches. He provided us with comprehensive feedback on
whatever we did, he also checked all of our assignments really quickly. I enjoyed this course
a lot.” Undergraduate Student, “Literature of the Fantastic,” Sciences Po – Le Havre, Spring 2023

“[Noah] was super engaging, every student participated because of his ability to make
the classroom dynamic. The texts we studied were interesting and the discussion and
discourse generated was extremely stimulating. The assignments in class that we had to do
were unique and really improved our creative writing and thinking skills. He gave extremely
timely and in-depth feedback for each assignment and was open to any kinds of questions or
discussions. Definitely one of the best professors and classes I have had at Sciences Po.” Undergraduate Student, “Literature of the Fantastic,” Sciences Po – Le Havre, Spring 2023

“This course was amazing and enriching! Thank you! The group project had been a real
challenge but a really good experience.” – Undergraduate Student, “Literature of the Fantastic,” Sciences Po – Le Havre, Spring 2023

– Undergraduate Student, “Literature of the Fantastic,” Sciences Po – Le Havre, Spring 2023

“Très bon cours, un de mes préférés, très bon professeur, il est encourageant et à l’écoute.”- Undergraduate Student, “Literature of the Fantastic,” Sciences Po – Le Havre, Spring 2023

“Noah Weisz created successful writing workshops for the Library’s teen members, which were perfectly tailored to our needs. The workshops began with writing tips and a short lesson on craft, followed by time to write, and time to share. The workshops were very well-received by the young writers in attendance. I would highly recommend Noah’s workshops.” – Celeste Rhoads, Children’s & Teens’ Services Manager, The American Library in Paris, 2023

“Thank you! E. loved your workshop and – having read her stories – we are very happy too.” – Julia C., parent of a middle-school student in a year-long after-school creative writing workshop, Paris, 2022-2023

“Noah Weisz was invited to run a 3-hour writing workshop with a group of 17 of our High School ESL students. Mr. Weisz started with a short Q&A, giving insightful advice into the creative writing process. He then had the students write short stories in small groups, step by step, helping each group individually so that they could all finish a first draft in under 3 hours. The students all enjoyed their experience, and were eager to read the stories written by the other groups. Mr. Weisz emphasized the importance of letting go of the idea of creating a perfect first draft, and that the most important aspect of being a writer was to be consistent and to see one’s projects through. Mr. Weisz was extremely professional throughout the entire experience. [One student commented:] ‘The workshop allowed me to realize how much easier it is to write a story when you take it one step at a time, especially when surrounded by nice people.'” – J. Le Lamer, professeure documentaliste, Lycée Franco-Allemand de Buc, 2024
